We started this website with one simple question: why is it so hard to get a straight answer about what dogs can and cannot eat?

If you have ever typed a pet food question into Google, you already know the problem. One website says yes, another says no, and a third throws so much medical jargon at you that you give up and just take the food away from your dog to be safe. That is not good enough. Dog owners deserve clear, honest, vet-reviewed information — written in plain English, without the confusion.

That is exactly why Can Dogs Eat Avocado exists.

Our Story

This website was founded by Haseeb, a dog lover and digital content creator who got tired of finding conflicting, poorly researched pet nutrition content online.

It started the way most good ideas do — out of frustration. One evening, Haseeb’s dog got into a bowl of guacamole left on the kitchen counter. Like any responsible pet owner, he immediately went online to find out if his dog was in danger. What he found was a mess of contradictory articles, vague warnings, and content clearly written to rank on Google rather than actually help dog owners.

Some articles said avocado was completely toxic and would kill a dog. Others said it was totally fine. None of them explained why, none of them cited real veterinary sources, and not a single one gave a clear, practical answer that a worried dog owner could actually use at 10 PM on a Tuesday night.

That experience planted a seed. Haseeb decided to build the kind of website he wished had existed that night — one that gives dog owners real answers, backed by actual veterinary knowledge, written in a way that anyone can understand without a medical degree.

Who We Are

Can Dogs Eat Avocado is a pet nutrition information website focused entirely on helping dog owners make safe, informed decisions about their dog’s diet.

We cover everything related to dogs and food — which human foods are safe, which are dangerous, what the science actually says, and what to do in an emergency. Our content is built around one core belief: your dog’s safety should never depend on whether you happened to find the right website.

Meet the Team

Haseeb — Founder & Content Director

Haseeb created this website out of a genuine love for dogs and a deep frustration with the low quality of pet nutrition content available online. He has spent years researching canine nutrition, working closely with veterinary professionals, and building a resource that dog owners across the United States can actually trust.

His approach to content is simple: research it properly, have a qualified vet review it, then write it in plain language that any dog owner can understand. No guesswork, no scare tactics, no vague disclaimers that leave you more confused than when you started.

When he is not writing about dog nutrition, Haseeb spends his time reading about animal behavior, keeping up with the latest veterinary research, and of course, spending time with his own dog.

Dr. Ubaid ur Rehman — Veterinary Reviewer (DVM, BZU Pakistan)

All medical and nutritional content on this website is reviewed by Dr. Ubaid ur Rehman, a qualified veterinarian holding a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Pakistan — one of the most respected veterinary programs in South Asia.

Dr. Ubaid brings a thorough understanding of animal physiology, toxicology, and clinical nutrition to every piece of content he reviews. His role is to make sure that everything published on this website is medically accurate, up to date with current veterinary guidance, and safe to act on.

Before any article goes live on this site, Dr. Ubaid reviews it for factual accuracy, checks all claims against established veterinary sources — including the Merck Veterinary Manual, ASPCA guidelines, and peer-reviewed research — and flags anything that could be misleading or harmful to pet owners.

His involvement is not a formality. It is the foundation of everything we publish.

How We Create Our Content

Every article on this website follows a strict process before it reaches you:

1. Research first. Every topic begins with a thorough review of current veterinary literature, including guidance from the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, the Merck Veterinary Manual, and published peer-reviewed studies on canine nutrition and toxicology.

2. Written in plain language. Haseeb takes that research and translates it into content that is easy to read, practical, and actually useful — the kind of answer you need when your dog just ate something and you need to know right now whether to panic or relax.

3. Veterinary review. Before anything is published, Dr. Ubaid ur Rehman reviews the content for medical accuracy and clinical soundness. If something does not check out, it does not go live.

4. Kept up to date. Veterinary guidance evolves. When new research or updated recommendations come out, we revisit and update our content to reflect the latest science. Every article shows a last-reviewed date so you always know how current the information is.

What We Are Not

We want to be completely upfront about this: we are not a substitute for your veterinarian.

The information on this website is intended for general educational purposes. It can help you understand the risks, know what symptoms to watch for, and make informed decisions — but it cannot replace a professional diagnosis or treatment from a licensed vet who has actually examined your dog.

If your dog is sick, in pain, or has eaten something you believe is toxic, please contact your veterinarian immediately. For poison emergencies, call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 or the Pet Poison Helpline at (855) 764-7661 — both available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Promise to You

Every dog owner who lands on this website deserves one thing above everything else: the truth, clearly explained.

We will never publish content just to fill a page. We will never make claims we cannot back up with real veterinary sources. We will never prioritize search rankings over your dog’s safety.

This website exists because dogs cannot speak for themselves. The least we can do is make sure the people who love them have access to accurate, trustworthy information — every single time they need it.

Welcome to Can Dogs Eat Avocado. We are glad you found us.
